Standard Equipment:
The car was
first registered on the 1st January 1968, but was clearly built in 1967 as it
has the ‘Superleggera’ bonnet badges fitted which were dropped from 1968
onwards. This was a result of Carrozzeria Touring of Milan who owned the
Superleggera trademark closing in 1966 and existing supplies of the badge being
exhausted.
Two types of
power steering could be fitted to the DB6 as optional extras. Both ZF and Adwest systems offered progressive
assistance dependant on road wheel resistance and the car could be driven un-asisted in the event of failure. The ZF system however was considered the far better option.
The car remains exactly as it was originally supplied, apart from the removal of both long range and fog lamps. These were removed in 1977 as I felt they spoilt the distinctive lines of the radiator grill.
The original Lake & Elliot jack, Thor hammer, Bradex fire extinguisher and manual window-winder are still with the car. I put together a more comprehensive tool-roll when I first bought the car in the 1970s and that is also retained.
